Ericsson delivers enterprises with more than just convergence of voice and data (VoIP). As part of its multi-convergence strategy, Ericsson is launching a solution called “Ericsson One Phone Solution”, which enables large enterprises to rely on a single device for their mobile and even agile workers. Ericsson One Phone Solution is a fixed mobile convergence solution offering full featured “business class” telephony services (such as conferencing, automatic callbacks, call transfer, hunt groups, and attendant services) as well as unified messaging and “real-time” e-mail and calendar access. The solution is phone centric and functions with Sony-Ericsson’s P900/910i smartphones, as well as with any Symbian based mobile phone.
Although mobile network independent – it relies on functionality residing in the mobile phones and the customer premise equipment (IP PBX and Application Servers) – the solution can be enhanced further by specialized intelligent network services, which can be provided by Ericsson to the mobile network operators. In that case, all type of mobile phones will be supported.
Ericsson’s One Phone Solution is ideal for users who are travelling, working from home or telecommuting. It could even replace fixed phones in remote offices or in the main office.
The major benefit, which appeals to most communication managers on the spot, is reducing the number of terminals to just “one” phone per employee, as the solution name predicts. “The mobile phone has become an indispensable personal companion similar to your credit card or your keys – without which you don’t leave the house. So the idea of using this phone as the single device for telephony and communication applications was very appealing” says Roger Hage, Senior Sales Manager at Ericsson.
Roger adds: “Enterprises can now reduce operational expenses by eliminating multiple terminal subscriptions per employee. Ericsson One Phone Solution also supports corporate unified messaging and e-mail, which greatly improves the productivity of mobile professionals and enhances the customer service.
